Career Mentor Network

CAREER MENTOR NETWORK

The College of Charleston Career Center is pleased to offer the services of the Career Mentor Network to all students and graduates of the College!

The Network provides students and alumni seeking career advice and direction the opportunity to contact professional working in a variety of fields. This diverse group of alumni has volunteered their valuable time to provide you with career advice and possibly the opportunity to conduct an informational interview.

Career Mentors offer a variety of services and opportunities

USING THE NETWORK

The best way to use this network is to arrange a brief informational interview with the mentor. Some mentors prefer to speak with students/alumni in person or by phone, while other mentors are available via email. A face-to-face conversation is usually the best if possible, because both of you get to know each other better this way.

Alumni can share information and insights about their career field as well as names of associates and businesses who might be interested in speaking with a potential recruit. In using this Network, please remember that the alumni contacts have agreed to provide you with career advice, guidance, and direction; not to find you a job.

The Career Mentor Network has been updated and is currently available through CISTERNonline, a web-based program administered by the Career Center.

SEARCHING FOR MENTORS

To access the Career Mentor Network, log into CISTERNonline. If you need assistance, please contact the Career Center (careercenter@cofc.edu). Once you log into CISTERNonline, click on “Mentor Network” in the top navigation bar.

You may search the Network by Job Function, Industry, Major (Advanced Search), or even Geographic Location (Advanced Search). Your initial search will give you a list of mentors and brief information. Their full contact information will not be visible until you have made a connection request and have been accepted as a Mentee. For instructions and complete information, download the Mentee Quick Start Guide (pdf format).
