Directions to the College of Charleston Career Center

Directions from I26 East (from Columbia, Charleston International Airport):

  • Take I-26 to the end, which is the junction of Highway 17 and downtown Charleston
  • Take exit #21 for "Downtown, Visitor's Center, Meeting Street"
  • Go approximately 10 blocks to the traffic light at Meeting and Calhoun
  • Turn right on Calhoun
  • Go one block to the intersection of Calhoun and King
  • Take a right on King Street - the Francis Marion Hotel will be on your left
  • Make an immediate left into the Francis Marion Hotel Parking Garage adjacent to the hotel. (If this garage is full - see below).
  • Take a parking ticket when you enter the garage and keep it. The Career Center will provide you with a parking pass when you arrive at our office, which you will give to the attendant, along with your ticket, when you exit the garage.
  • From the parking garage, walk in front of the Francis Marion Hotel to the corner of King St. and Calhoun St. and make a right.
  • The Career Center is located in the Lightsey Center (Building #5 on the campus map.) at 160 Calhoun St.
  • The door leading to the Career Center office will be on your right just past the side entrance to the hotel, and just before the College of Charleston Bookstore.
  • Go up the stairs, make a left, and the Career Center will be on your left. (If you need to use the elevator, continue past the College of Charleston Bookstore, and make a right onto the sidewalk between the Bookstore and Berry Hall. The entrance will be on your right. Take the elevator to the second floor.)

Directions from Highway 17 (travelling north from Savannah):

  • Take Highway 17 North to Charleston
  • Go over the Ashley River Bridge
  • Get in the farthest right lane (Lockwood Drive south exit)
  • Get into the farthest left lane as you approach the traffic light for Calhoun St.
  • Turn left onto Calhoun St., and go approximately .9 miles
  • The Lightsey Center will be on your left just before the intersection of King and Calhoun
  • Make a left onto King St., and another immediate left into the Francis Marion Parking Garage adjacent to the hotel. (If this garage is full - see below)
  • Take a parking ticket when you enter the garage and keep it. The Career Center will provide you with a parking pass when you arrive at our office, which you will give to the attendant, along with your ticket, when you exit the garage.
  • From the parking garage, walk in front of the Francis Marion Hotel to the corner of King St. and Calhoun St. and make a right.

From Highway 17 (travelling south from Myrtle Beach):

  • Follow Highway 17 over the Ravenel Bridge.
  • Go past the first two exits marked "Downtown Charleston". Continue on 17, and take the exit marked King Street.
  • At the stop sign, make a right.
  • Go approximately .9 miles on King St.
  • The Francis Marion Hotel Parking Garage will be on your right. (Marion Square Park will be on your left.) Park in this garage. (If this garage is full - see below).
  • Take a parking ticket when you enter the garage and keep it. The Career Center will provide you with a parking pass when you arrive at our office, which you will give to the attendant, along with your ticket, when you exit the garage.
  • From the Francis Marion parking garage, walk in front of the Francis Marion Hotel to the corner of King St. and Calhoun St. and make a right.
  • The Career Center is located in the Lightsey Center (Building #5 on the campus map.) at 160 Calhoun St.
  • The door leading to the Career Center office will be on your right just past the side entrance to the hotel, and just before the College of Charleston Bookstore.
  • Go up the stairs to the second floor, make a left, and the Career Center will be on your left. If the Francis Marion Parking Garage is full:

  • Go to the intersection of King and Calhoun (the red light in front of the Francis Marion Hotel).
  • Make a right onto Calhoun
  • Go to the next traffic light; turn right onto St. Philip St.
  • The second building on your left is a City Parking Garage (81 St. Philip St.)
  • Take a parking ticket when you enter the garage and keep it. The Career Center will provide you with a parking pass when you arrive at our office, which you will give to the attendant, along with your ticket, when you exit the garage.
  • Walk to the corner of St. Philip and Calhoun.
  • At the corner, make a left, which will take you down Calhoun St. going towards King St.
  • The Career Center is located in the second building on your left in the Lightsey Center (Building #5 on the campus map.) at 160 Calhoun St.
  • Make a left onto the sidewalk between the College of Charleston Bookstore and Berry Hall. The entrance will be on your right. Take the elevator or the stairs to the second floor.

Parking Information

The Career Center recommends that you park in the Francis Marion Hotel Parking Garage or the St. Philip Street Parking Garage. Take a parking ticket when you enter the garage and keep it. The Career Center will provide you with a parking pass when you arrive at our office, which you will give to the attendant, along with your ticket, when you exit the garage.

Although metered parking spaces are sometimes available near the Career Center Office, we DO NOT recommend that you park in metered spaces except for very short office visits, or to unload packages in front of our office. Cars parked at expired meters will be ticketed; cars parked in unauthorized parking lots or spaces are in danger of being towed. The Career Center cannot be held responsible for parking violations.

Directions from the Career Center to the Charleston International Airport

From the Francis Marion Hotel Parking Garage:

  • Make a right on King Street, immediately merge into the far left lane.
  • Turn left onto Calhoun St., go to the red light, turn left onto Meeting St.
  • Continue past the Charleston Visitor's Center on your left, follow signs to I-26 West.
  • The exit off Meeting St. to the ramp to I-26 will be a left turn.
  • Take exit 212B off I26 which will put you on International Blvd.
  • Go straight until you see the airport

If parked in the St. Philip St. Parking Garage:

  • Come out of the garage and make a left, and at the traffic light, make a right onto Vanderhorst St.
  • Go to the red light and make a right onto King St.
  • As soon as possible, get in the left hand lane, go to the red light, make a left onto Calhoun St.
  • Go up to the next red light and make a left onto Meeting St.
  • Go down Meeting St. past the Visitor's Center (on your left), then follow signs to I26.
  • The exit off Meeting St. to the ramp to I-26 will be a left turn.
  • Take exit 212B off I26 which will put you on International Blvd.
  • Go straight until you see the airport
