  • Online Job Postings. Check out great off-campus part-time positions on CISTERNonline. Local, regional, and national job opportunities are listed and updated on a weekly basis. Job descriptions and employer contact information is available for your convenience. Log on today to find the perfect part-time job!

  • Career Library. The Career Center has many written resources to help you with your job search, including several books and magazines containing information about seasonal and part-time employment. Come by the Career Center Office to look through the seasonal job file cabinet for information about camps, resorts, and local organizations.

  • Web Resources. Search for part-time jobs online using these helpful web resources. Use the Internet to link to a variety of companies and organizations in the Charleston area and in other cities. In many cases, you can apply online or download an application.

  • Networking. Ask around to see where your friends are working. Interact with professors, family members, or former employers to get job leads and employer contact information. Also, take a walk and get to know the businesses near where you live. You may find that the perfect part-time job is right around the corner.

  • Newspapers. Review the classified ads in your local newspaper or online. The Career Center receives the Sunday newspaper weekly. Many small employers advertise in the paper, rather than listing online.

  • Career Fairs. Many local companies come to the Career Fairs held in the fall and spring semesters. Bring a resume and network with potential employers. The companies attending Career Fairs hire for full-time as well as part-time positions. Use this opportunity to obtain contact information and follow-up with a call indicating your interest.

  • On-Campus Recruitment. Several camps and local resorts come to campus in the fall and spring to recruit for their organizations. Check the Events link in CISTERNonline for companies scheduling on-campus recruitment.

The Career Center strives to provide the best possible opportunities for students. However, if you find that you are experiencing difficulties with your employer, please report this information to our office immediately. Whether you want to discuss a grievance, need information, or wish to take action against an employer, it is imperative that you work with our office to insure that the appropriate action is taken.

Before meeting with the Career Center, please compile a very detailed and specific list outlining the problem(s). All conversations and written documentation are kept confidential.
