Denny Ciganovic, the Director of the office, has been with the College of Charleston since 1992. He has also held director positions at 2 other institutions-Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts and Salem College in West Virginia. He earned a master's degree in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University and a bachelor's in chemistry from Franklin & Marshall College. He enjoys traveling, bicycling and reading and the cooler parts of the year vs the summer heat and humidity.
Kristine Barry is the Student Employment Coordinator. Kristine served six years in the Air Force as a Therapeutic Assistant and the Exceptional Family Member Program Coordinator for Charleston Air Force Base before attending the College of Charleston in 1997. She graduated with a B.A. in English in 1999. Before joining Career Center, Kristine was a financial planner and financial aid counselor for Johnson & Wales University and the Medical University of South Carolina. She has been involved with the South Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SCASFAA), the National Association of Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), the Southern Association of Student Employment Administrators (SASEA), and was a charter member of the SCASFAA Peer Network.
Meredith Gerber is the Career Counselor. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1998. After interning in the Office of Career Services at Tennessee Tech, she pursued a Master of Science in Counselor Education, specializing in Student Affairs Administration, at Radford University. While earning her master’s degree, she worked as an academic advisor at Radford and interned in the Career Development Center at Hollins University. She was the Assistant Director in Career Services at Washington and Lee University. Prior to joining the Career Center, Meredith served as an academic advisor in the Academic Advising and Planning Center at CofC and Bloomsburg University.
Marla Cochran is the Job Location and Development Coordinator. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English from the College of Charleston in May 2006 while working as a student employee for three of her four years. After graduation, Marla worked for the Department of Health and Environmental Control in the water department. She came back to work for the college in 2007 where she worked as an Administrative Specialist in the Academic Advising and Planning Center. In her free time, Marla enjoys lots of rest and relaxation.
Lindsey Gillen is the Internship Coordinator. She received her BS in Leisure and Sports Management from Elon University in 2006. After graduating, Lindsey worked in the hospitality field in Charleston before returning to school to pursue her Masters in Higher Education Administration and Student Affairs at the University of South Carolina. During her time at USC, Lindsey worked as a graduate assistant in the Computing and Engineering Career Center and the Office of Student Services. Lindsey was the Career Advisor in the Career Center prior to her promotion to Internship Coordinator. In her free time Lindsey enjoys training for half marathons, playing with her dogs, reading, and the beach.
Eric Anderson is the Center's Career Advisor. Eric received his Bachelor of Arts from St. Ambrose University (Iowa) in Philosophy & Theater and is currently enrolled in a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management program. After college, Eric came to Charleston to participate in the AmeriCorps national service program. He also worked for AmeriCorps for five years as a Service Learning Coordinator and Career Advisor, helping members with their educational and career goals. Prior to coming to the College of Charleston, Eric worked in the agricultural and environmental education nonprofit sectors, and is excited to be back in an educational setting and assisting students with their career plans!
Linda Robinson has been employed by Career Center since 1992. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Science in Human Resources Development from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. She has experience working in career development and in human resources with both public and private organizations, including responsibilities for recruiting, interviewing and hiring job candidates. She is a member of the the Southeastern Association of Colleges and Employers and the South Carolina Association of Colleges and Employers.
Annette VanHannegeyn has been with the Career Center for over 10 years serving as Office Manager. Prior to joining us, she was in banking for over 20 years. Annette attended Trident Technical College. In her spare time, she enjoys singing, sewing, cooking, gardening, entertaining and helping others.
