Get Involved

The Career Center offers a variety of ways for College of Charleston alumni to share their knowledge and experience to help current students and fellow alumni in their career decision-making and job search. Ask about opportunities to participate in Alumni and Employer Engagement programs. Your participation simply involves a willingness to share advice and information regarding careers, the job search, and networking and building connections. No matter where you live, you can volunteer to conduct mock interviews, host a tour of your workspace, provide externship or shadowing opportunities, or serve as a panelist or presenter.

Here are some of the ways in which you can get involved:

Hire Cougars

Post job and/or internship opportunities in your organization for College of Charleston students and alumni using our online job board, Handshake.  Contact the Human Resources department in your place of employment or business regarding recruiting at the College of Charleston.

On Campus Recruiting

An on-campus interview date may be scheduled for organizations wishing to identify graduating seniors or recent alumni for anticipated job openings. On-campus interview dates are typically scheduled from late September - November (fall semester) and from February - April (spring semester). Employers have the choice of either a Closed Interview Schedule, in which students submit a resume and the employer selects the students to interview; or an Open Interview Schedule, in which students sign up for an interview on a first-come, first-served basis.

Resume Review Events

Provide quick, short-term resume feedback and advice to students and alumni preparing their resumes for a career search. Offer insight about specific items that capture employers’ attention, preferred formatting techniques, and how to package skills and experience in order to make a resume as effective as possible for any application.

Employer in Residence (EIR)

This is an opportunity for you to represent your company during one-on-one meetings with students and alumni who may be seeking job search assistance, a resume critique, cover letter review, interview tips, or simply wish to have a general career conversation regarding opportunities with your company. While this is not a formal recruitment program, it does allow for productive networking and the potential to continue a career conversation. The Employer in Residence Program takes place in the Career Center and is typically scheduled from 1-4pm on most Wednesdays during the academic year.

Career Center Employer Partnership Program

The Career Center provides a wide range of sponsorship opportunities to increase your company's visibility on campus, enhance recruiting efforts, and engage with talented students and alumni. Participants in the program will enjoy increased student awareness of their organization, multiple occasions to interact with specific student demographics, introductions and connections with key faculty, and personal assistance developing effective strategies and programming.
